VHFC's general meetings are held on the second Friday of each month (Apr - Nov) in the Community Center located on Mill Creek Road in Manahawkin, NJ.   The general meetings, featuring club news, fishing reports, upcoming events and guest speakers begin at 7:45 pm.  Doors open at 7:30 pm.   If you would like to learn about fishing in our area, please join us at one of our meetings.

April 10, 2009: Monthly Membership Meeting at the Community Center.
Guest Speaker – Author DJ Muller (8:00 PM).
Guys, DJ Muller is a noted fishing writer and author of two fine books, "Striper Strategies" and "The Surfcaster's Guide To The Striper Coast", will be our speaker on April 10th.  His talk entitled, "Bunker and Bass Perfect Together " will be a comprehensive presentation on what to do when big bunker show up, with bass hot on their heels, and how to catch them.  The talk will include both boat and surf techniques but will emphasize surf tactics.

The winners of the October and November Bluefish and Striped Bass Fish of the Month (FoM) will be announced.  Also the fish of the year for Winter Flounder, Tog, Weakfish, Bluefish, Fluke, Sea Bass and Striped Bass trophies will be awarded.

The drawing for the raffle for the free membership for any prospective new member that signed up at the Southern Regional High School Fishing Flea Market will be drawn.  There will be a winner!   Also there will be a quick discussion from our July speaker Bill Finley.

May 8, 2009: Monthly Membership Meeting at the Community Center.
Guest Speaker - .Bill Huluska
Bill runs Moles Charter Service in Barnegat. He will talk on Striper and Weakfish fishing in the Barnegat area.  He primarily fishes in Barnegat bay so if you would prefer to fish in the bay instead of the ocean this lecture will boost your bay knowledge.

In recognition for his dedicated hard work for the Village Harbour Fishing Club, there will be an award presented to Ed Cherry (member #1).
The Captain Melanie Boytos Inshore Slam Award will be presented.

Lynn from the Boat Shop will give a quick presentation of what the Boat Shop offers to club members.  Having purchased many items from them she will explain how it is a financial advantage of members to purchase from them.

The winner of the March and April Winter Flounder Fish of the Month (FoM) will be announced.

June 12,2009: Monthly Membership Meeting at the Community Center.
Guest Speaker - Darren Doris and Bill Donovan
They are from the New  Jersey Angler Magazine and will give a presentation on fluke fishing in the bay and in the ocean.  They have combined to provide many informative DVD’s (some available in our library) on varies types of inshore fishing.  They have had a slide presentation at our club in the past and it was very informative.

The winner of the May Weakfish Fish of the Month (FoM) will be announced.

July 10,2009: Monthly Membership Meeting at the Community Center.
Guest Speaker - Bill Figley
Bill is a retired biologists with the N.J. Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, and the man responsible for implementing our terrific ocean artificial reef system will speak on, reading the water and tides for better fishing.

He is the captain from the , "Fish the Drop Off" ,charter service.   His talk will concentrate on fishing for fluke and sea bass on the offshore Little Egg and Garden State South reefs.
